Local Looks : Find Us at Gott’s Roadside!

If you make your way into San Francisco, by either the Golden Gate or Bay Bridge, and wind your way along the waterfront Embarcadero, you will inevitably find yourself looking up at San Francisco’s iconic Ferry Building. Perched at the edge of the bay, with views of Alcatraz and the passing by of ferries and freighters alike, the indoor/outdoor marketplace is one of our favorite places to stop when we’re in the city by the bay.

Standing tall since 1898, the famous landmark, in addition to showcasing a beloved blend of local shops and artisanal goods, hosts community favorites like farmers’ markets, concerts, yoga and even board game nights. One of our favorite reasons to stop by? Finding our mountaintop to tabletop artesian water at three different spots inside (and counting!)

This time we had a sunny bite to eat, Embarcadero-adjacent, at the Bay Area burger legend, Gott's Roadside. We had the fish tacos, a couple ice-cold Tahoe Artesian Waters, and our other favorite kind of water: a pilsner.

The Gott's Roadside Story

The Gott’s Roadside story started in 1999, when brothers Duncan and Joel Gott took over a classic Highway 29 burger joint in St. Helena, California. Just a short drive from San Francisco, the classic drive-in style spot featured fresh, high-quality ingredients, made-to-order food and all the friendliness (and gorgeous weather) you expect to find in Wine Country. Quickly gaining a cult following, Gott’s Roadside has since added new locations throughout the Bay Area, including our lunch spot at the Ferry Building in 2004.

Gott’s prides itself on featuring local meats, breads, and cheeses, whenever possible, supporting their belief in the importance of clean ingredients. This methodology extends to the water they pour. Want to sip and savor it for yourself? The Ferry Building is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and our water can be found at Gott’s Roadside, A16, and Hog Island Oyster Company.
